Implant Procedure is a treatment that we hear frequently nowadays and its use has become quite widespread. Dental implants, also called screw teeth in society, are the closest treatment method to natural teeth.
The implant procedure is an artificial tooth root made of suitable material that is placed in the jawbone in order to restore the function and aesthetics of missing teeth of patients.
The implanted tooth area provides better speech and chewing function compared to bridges and prostheses, which are other traditional treatment methods. Furthermore, dental implant treatment creates a natural appearance on the face of the patients.
Different types of implants have started to be produced for implant treatment, which is now widely used. However, the most popular type of implant is the screw-shaped implant.
What is an Implant (Dental Insertion)?
The implant is an artificial tooth root made of suitable material (titanium) placed in the jawbone in the mouth in order to fill the places of the missing teeth and to restore the function and aesthetics of the teeth.
Implants are like the patient's natural tooth roots and are placed in the jawbone like a tooth root. The implant is made of pure titanium compatible with the patient's oral and maxillofacial tissues and fuses with the bone in a few months.
Implant Procedure is a much safer, functional alternative treatment compared to traditional dental crowns, bridges, and palatal prostheses.
How is Implant Procedure Performed?
In order for the implant procedure to be successful, the bone volume of the patient to be implanted must have the length and thickness to surround the implant. First of all, we measure the patient's bone volume in our clinic by means of preliminary examination and X-rays. We decide on the compatibility of our patient's mouth and jaw structure with implant treatment by our specialist.
After determining that our patient does not have a problem that may prevent implant placement, we prepare a cavity in the jawbone based on the size and diameter of the implant and then place the implant in this cavity. We usually apply local anesthesia during this surgical intervention.
After the surgical intervention phase is completed, it is required to wait 2-3 months in the lower jaw and 3-6 months in the upper jaw for the formation of a healthy bone tissue between the implant and the jawbone.
After this period is completed and bone tissue is formed, we proceed to the prosthesis stage. After the implants are opened and their measurements are taken, we complete the procedure in 2-3 sessions and in about 1 week by placing a prosthesis on the implant. Although it varies according to the patient, the surgical duration of 1 implant is usually 20-30 minutes.
Unless a specific condition is encountered during the implant procedure, patients return to their normal life immediately after the procedure.

Advantages of Implant Procedure
Implant Procedure is a very comfortable, durable and reliable procedure. Thanks to implant treatment, the patient's missing tooth can be removed without damaging the adjacent healthy teeth.
While the prostheses made after implant treatment replace the natural teeth, they form the closest structure to the natural tooth. Implant prostheses provide better chewing and speech function than traditional prostheses. It also lasts much longer than traditional prostheses.
Thanks to implant treatment, patients can protect their jawbone against bone loss caused by missing teeth. It will also eliminate the negative psychological effects in patients who have lost confidence due to missing teeth.
In Which Situations Implant Procedures Cannot Be Performed?
In people with certain diseases, implant treatment is risky and apart from the risk, there are situations where the success rate of the treatment is low. Patients are informed about these issues with a preliminary examination by our specialists in our clinic.
We do not recommend implant procedures
for people with problems such as
patients with systemic problems,
patients who use cortisone extensively,
patients with severe cardiovascular,
patients with diabetes (if sugar can be kept at a certain level, these patients can also be implanted),
patients with blood diseases
and patients undergoing chemotherapy or radiotherapy. Furthermore, if the patient smokes more than 1 pack of cigarettes daily and does not pay attention to oral dental health, the success rate of implant treatment decreases.
As we mentioned at the beginning of our article, it is also important that the patient has sufficient bone volume for us to be able to apply implant treatment. In some cases, in patients with insufficient bone volume (depending on the case), implants can be placed after the bone infrastructure is created using bone powder (grafts). However, patient and edentulous area suitability should be evaluated for these procedures.
Will I Feel Pain During and After Implant Procedure?
Since our specialists use the right anesthesia methods during the procedure, our patients do not feel pain and suffering.
General or local anesthesia is applied during the operation. After the procedure is completed, pain occurs at the same level as after a standard tooth extraction.
This pain, which can usually be felt on the evening of implant placement, can be relieved with simple painkillers. In cases where the treatment is completed without any problems, you will be so comfortable that you will not even feel the presence of the implants.
You can learn how painless and successful the implant treatment performed by our specialists is by reading the opinions of our other patients who have undergone the treatment with us on our website and social media accounts.
