First of all, cleaning and bleaching are very different. In cleaning, dental stones and some discolorations are removed with tips working with ultrasonic vibration, followed by polishing made with special polishing pastes. However, bleaching is a cosmetic treatment applied after cleaning with special bleaching agents.
Bleaching can be done in two ways.
1- Home bleaching: Two special plates are prepared on measurements taken from the person. These plates have small chambers on their front surfaces. The person uses the bleaching agent in these small chambers in accordance with dentist's instructions and applies the plate and reaches the desired whiteness in seven to ten days.
2- Office bleaching: This is done by the dentist in about an hour. The effect of bleaching after the procedure is noticeable by the patient. It is applied under blue light in a special bleaching device with special bleaching agents in 3 sets of about 15 minutes. The number of sets can be increased or decreased depending on the physician's decision.
should be remembered that:
-bleaching is a cosmetic treatment. Color recycling is expected to occur between 6 months and 2 years depending on use.
-sensitivity may occur after bleaching, which is temporary.
-bleaching cannot be done to every patient; tooth enamel thickness is very important.
-it cannot be applied to those with filling, crowning, or lamina in the front teeth because the bleaching agent cannot change the color of the filling, crowning, or lamina while changing the tooth color, leading to color differences.
